If bathing was started early and done gently, most dogs will accept a bath. However some people frighten their dogs by bathing them in water that is either too hot or too cold for them. Getting soap in their nose and eyes also makes bath a bad experience. True most dogs love water, but they are in control while in it, not forced to stand still under a faucet or garden hose while being scrubbed and soaped from head to tail. Using a pitcher to wet and rinse the dog, keeping soap and water out of their eyes and nose and a gentle hand goes a long way in getting the job done.
